Kapcherop Technical and Vocational College was established in accordance with the TVET Act 2013 to provide access to technical education and training for all Kenyans. It was the first technical training institute to be established in the expansive Elgeyo Marakwet County and is nestled in the heart of the Cherangany Hills, surrounded by a picturesque serene environment adorned with tea plantations and the natural forest of Elgeyo Marakwet County, Marakwet West District, in Kapcherop Town.
The College commenced operations on September 21, 2017, following the inauguration of its Board, tasked with fulfilling the purpose behind its establishment. Currently, we have 300 trainees enrolled, a remarkable achievement accomplished within a mere span of two years. We anticipate tripling this number by the end of 2020.
As we are aware, technical education and training is the driving force behind the Kenyan Government’s “Big Four” Agenda and the realization of Vision 2030. Kapcherop TVC is proud to be an integral part of this journey and a contributor to fulfilling this mandate for our people.
The College strives to emulate our mentor institution, Rift Valley Technical Training Institute (RVTTI), a center of excellence in TVET in Kenya and East Africa, in providing quality technical training as outlined in our vision and mission.
Being a center of excellence in automotive engineering, with workshops equipped with state-of-the-art equipment, we will commence Competency-Based Education and Training Courses (CBET) starting in January 2020, moving away from the traditional KNEC academic-oriented examinations and curriculum, particularly in all automotive courses.
Finally, I would like to take this opportunity to welcome the Kenyan youth to make Kapcherop TVC their institution of choice.
